8.Neck kiss

The next morning, Vikram was getting ready in his room, the crispness of his uniform a stark contrast to the lingering memories of Ananya's touch. Just then, Suryakantham's gentle voice called from downstairs.

"Vikram, breakfast cheyataniki raa babu,"she called out. (Son, come for breakfast.)

"Vasthanu, andi," he replied with a small smile, a warmth in his chest that had nothing to do with the morning chill. (I'll come, aunty.)

He went down to the dining table. Ananya was already there, meticulously avoiding eye contact, silently eating her idly. Vikram watched her, a knowing smirk playing on his lips, enjoying her obvious fluster.

The breakfast chatter was light until Sudhakar, Ananya's uncle (and Vikram's babai), suddenly addressed Vikram.

"Nee phone number kavali babu."he asked.

(I want your phone number vikram)

Vikram nodded, reciting his number. Sudhakar immediately dialled it, but Vikram's phone didn't ring.

"My mobile is in my room, uncle," Vikram clarified. "Naa mobile room lo undhi andi. Nenu save chesukunta mee number."

(My mobile is in my room, uncle. I'll save your number later.)

As Vikram said this, Ananya, who had been trying to appear invisible, suddenly lifted her head. A small, mischievous smirk formed on her face. A plan, brilliant and daring, immediately sparked in her mind. She fastly stuffed the rest of her idly into her mouth, mumbled a quick excuse, and darted upstairs.

She flew down the corridor to Vikram's room, her heart thumping with anticipation. She gently pushed the door open, slipping inside.

She immediately began her search, first near the dressing table, then under the pillows, checking every logical (and illogical) spot. Her focus was so absolute that she didn't hear the soft click of the door closing behind her.

Then, a low, familiar clearing of a throat made her freeze.

She slowly turned, her eyes widening in horror. Vikram was leaning against the closed door, his arms crossed over his chest, a knowing smirk playing on his lips. His eyes, dark and amused, swept over her.

" Ikkada em chesthunnav bangaram"he asked.

(What are you doing here ananya)

Ananya stammered, completely caught. "A-Adhi... nenu just... I-Iron shirt..." (Th-That... I just... I-Iron shirt...) She trailed off, realizing how pathetic her excuse sounded.

Vikram's smirk deepened. He slowly reached into his back pocket and pulled out his phone, holding it up, the screen displaying the infamous kissing photo.

"Adhenti? Phone room lo undhi annaru ga? Mee pocket loki ela vacchindhi?" she blurted out, her voice accusing.

(What? You said the phone was in your room, didn't you? How did it get into your pocket?)

He simply chuckled, shaking his head. "Edho shirt iron edho antunnavu kadha, Bangaram?"

(You were saying something about ironing a shirt, right, darling?)

Ananya ignored his teasing. Her eyes were fixed on the phone. "Give it to me!" she demanded, taking a determined step towards him.

Vikram easily raised his hand, keeping the phone out of her reach. "Okay, then kiss me again," he said, his voice a playful dare, his eyes twinkling.

Ananya's eyes widened. "No!" she protested shaking her head. "I'm not going toβ€”"

Suddenly, the door was pushed open forcefully from the outside. Ananya, caught off guard, stumbled forward. She landed squarely against Vikram, pushing him back against the wall. His back hit the solid wall with a thud, and Ananya's back hit the door, sandwiching her between him and the doorframe.

Vikram's arms instinctively went around her waist, pulling her flush against him, steadying her. Ananya's hands flew to his chest, bracing herself, but the impact had tilted her head. Her lips landed with a soft, warm pressure on the side of his neck, just beneath his ear.

Vikram's breath hitched. His eyes squeezed shut for a split second, a jolt of pure electricity shooting through him. He could feel the soft curve of her lips against his skin, the delicate scent of her jasmine filling his senses.

His heart hammered a frantic rhythm against her palms. Ananya's eyes were wide, frozen in shock, unable to move. She could feel his strong arms around her, the powerful thrum of his heartbeat, the soft stubble of his jaw against her temple.

From outside, Suryakantham's voice drifted in. "Vikram babu ekkada? Room lo ledu. Coffee thagakunda ekkadiki velladu?" A moment later, the door closed they heard her footsteps receding downstairs.

(Where is Vikram? He's not in his room. Where did he go without drinking coffee?)

She saw sudhakar downstairs "Thammudu, Vikram babu neeku kanipinchada?" She asked her brother.

(Brother, have you seen Vikram?)

" He went to his room akka" He said then again she went to vikram room.

Ananya, realizing they were safe for now, slowly, reluctantly, removed her lips from his neck. She lifted her eyes, her gaze meeting his. Vikram was watching her, his own eyes dark and intense, his ears and neck now a distinct shade of red. He was just as affected as she was.

She tried to move, to create some space, but Vikram's arm around her waist tightened, tugging her even closer. Her body was flush against his, every curve fitting perfectly. She gasped, her eyes wide. "Vikr..am, lea..ve me," she stammered, her voice a mere whisper.

Just then, the door opened again, suddenly and without warning. Again, Ananya was pushed forward by the movement, her lips landing back on Vikram's neck.

Suryakantham stood there, holding a freshly poured cup of coffee, looking bewildered at the empty room. She hadn't seen them, hidden by the angle of the open door. She looked around room then went downstairs again.

This time, Ananya didn't remove her lips. Her heart was pounding, but a strange warmth was spreading through her. She could feel Vikram's hand slowly, deliberately, move from her waist, tracing a path up her back, gently pulling her closer still.

Her lips were still pressed against Vikram's neck, her body flush against his, his hand gently but possessively holding her closer to him. The scent of him, the feel of his hard body against hers, the dizzying speed of her own heartβ€”it was all consuming. The playful tension had evaporated, replaced by something far more potent, far more dangerous.

His hand, which had moved to her lower back, gently tightened its grip, pulling her even closer until there was no space left between them. He closed his eyes, savoring the moment, allowing himself to feel.

Ananya's eyes were wide open, staring at the closed door, but seeing nothing. Her mind was a whirlwind of confusion and raw sensation. She felt a strange tingling in her stomach, a heat that spread through her veins. It was terrifying, and exhilarating, all at once.

He slowly, almost imperceptibly, turned his head, his jaw brushing against her temple. His voice, when it came, was a low, guttural whisper, completely devoid of his usual amusement or coldness. It was raw, honest, and filled with a vulnerability she had never heard from him.

"Ananya," he breathed against her hair, his lips just inches from her ear. "You have no idea... what you do to me."

His words hit her with the force of a physical blow. Her breath caught in her throat. His voice was husky, thick with emotion, sending shivers down her spine that had nothing to do with fear. It was a confession, quiet but powerful.

He shifted slightly, just enough for his lips to brush against her earlobe, his warm breath fanning her skin. "This is not about teasing anymore anu"

Ananya's heart pounded so hard she thought it might burst through her chest. Her hands, still braced against his chest, felt his own heart mirroring hers, a wild, untamed rhythm. She wanted to pull away, to escape this overwhelming intimacy, but her body felt paralyzed, held captive by his words, his touch, his undeniable presence. A new, confusing warmth bloomed deep within her, mixing with the fear.

She slowly, tentatively, lifted her head from his neck, her cheek brushing against his stubbled jaw. Her eyes, wide and searching, locked onto his. His gaze was intense, burning with an emotion she couldn't quite decipher, but it captivated her.

His hand on her back moved, tracing a slow, deliberate path upwards, until his fingers tangled in the soft hair at the nape of her neck. He gently tilted her head back, pulling her eyes to his. His other hand, still firm on her waist, held her close.

He leaned in further, slowly, giving her every opportunity to pull away. Ananya's eyes fluttered closed for a moment, her breath held. She could feel the soft brush of his breath on her lips, the intoxicating pull of him. It was a silent invitation, a moment suspended in time.

Every fiber of Vikram's being screamed to close the remaining inch, to finally claim her lips, to surrender to the overwhelming desire. His eyes, dark with unspoken hunger, dropped to her parted lips, then to the pulse fluttering wildly at her throat. He could taste the moment, feel the tremble in her body. He craved her with an intensity that shocked him.

A flicker of pain crossed his eyes, a silent battle raging within him. His jaw tightened almost imperceptibly. He slowly, agonizingly, straightened up, pulling back just an inch, his lips brushing the soft hair near her ear as he did so. He released her, his hands falling away, leaving her body suddenly cold where his touch had been.

"Get out,ananya..... Or else I will loose every once of my control" Vikram said, his voice clipped, his eyes now distant, focused on something unseen beyond her. He turned slightly, putting space between them, leaving her utterly breathless and confused.

Ananya stumbled back, gasping for breath, her mind reeling from the abrupt shift. The spell was broken, but the reverberations of his whisper, his touch, his almost-kiss, vibrated through every cell of her body.

He had just confessed something so raw, so powerful, and then held himself back. The restraint was almost more powerful than a kiss would have been.

She quickly composed herself, ran a hand through her disheveled hair, and quietly slipped out of the room, her mind a chaotic storm of emotions. She practically fled down the corridor, not stopping until she reached the relative safety of her own guest room.

She closed the door behind her with a soft click and leaned against it, pressing her back against the cool wood. Her heart was still hammering, a frantic rhythm against her ribs.

Her cheeks and face burned as if she had been exposed to the scorching sun. The image of his intense eyes, the feel of his lips on her neck, his whispered words, and the agonizing closeness of his almost-kiss replayed in a loop in her mind.

She slid down the door, collapsing onto the floor, pulling her knees up to her chest, utterly overwhelmed. He was cold, but beneath that coldness, she had seen a fire, a desire that mirrored her own terrifying feelings.
